SCHOOL

You should beware of the schools saying that you will be able to learn kiteboarding in 2 or 3 days, this is a Utopia! Nevertheless, those 2 or 3 days will be enough to learn the basics of kiteboarding, you will be able to set up and fly a 4 line kite safely and be ready to go on improving on your own!

Learn kiteboarding takes more or or less as much time as learn how to drive, you will need around 20 hours, about 4 to 5 days. Then, some will sail on their own after 20 hours, while others will still need several hours of practice to reach that level. This practice can be in a school, or on their own. In the last case, please, be very careful of the potential risk of kiteboarding if not practiced the way your instructor taught you to: safely.

The most important after a 4 days course is to be able to fly a 4 line kite in a safe way, and be able to use any safety system your kite is equipped with, the kite being the major risk and difficulties in kiteboarding.

We'd rather see one of our students leaving our school with a great control of his kite, but who hasn't glided on his board, rather than one who has no control at all of his kite, but has managed to glide on a few meters. Good basics are the most important point in a kiteboarder's improving phase.
